Anna Palmer Becomes First Female General Partner at Flybridge Capital Partners

Anna Palmer Joins Flybridge as General Partner, Bringing Experience and Expertise to the Firm

Flybridge, a Boston and New York-based seed-stage firm, is proud to announce that Anna Palmer has joined its team as a general partner. This historic move marks a significant milestone for the 19-year-old firm, making Anna the first woman to hold this title.

A Longtime Member of Flybridge’s Community

Anna’s journey with Flybridge began over a decade ago when she met co-founder Jeff Bussgang while attending Harvard Law School. As a student, Anna was already demonstrating her entrepreneurial spirit by taking classes on entrepreneurship taught by Bussgang. This exposure laid the foundation for her future success and paved the way for her role at Flybridge.

Anna’s connection to Flybridge didn’t end there. In 2016, she co-founded Dough Collective, a membership community that enables users to discover, buy, and save on products made by women. Although Fashion Project, another company co-founded by Anna, was sold in 2016, its legacy lives on through the success of its sister venture.

A Founding Partner at XFactor Ventures

By 2017, Anna had taken her entrepreneurial endeavors to the next level by co-founding XFactor Ventures with Chip Hazard, another Flybridge co-founder. This innovative organization has made a significant impact in the startup world, boasting 22 partners across six cities who have collectively invested in 57 companies through two funds.

The overarching goal of XFactor is to provide seed funding to startups led entirely or partially by women founders. Founded on the premise that more women VCs are needed to drive change, Anna’s thesis has proven successful. Earlier this year, Aubrie Pagano, an investor at XFactor, was brought into Alpaca as a general partner, solidifying Anna’s achievement.

Investing in Community-Driven Startups

As Flybridge’s newest general partner, Anna is committed to investing in startups that share her community-driven vision. Her focus will be on companies with a "community-driven thesis," encompassing commerce 3.0, marketplaces, and the future of everything economy.

Anna emphasized the importance of local marketplaces, noting that it’s often easier for users to purchase products online from distant locations rather than nearby stores. This highlights an area ripe for innovation and disruption, which Anna is eager to tackle.

Navigating the Rapidly Changing Deal-Making Landscape

In today’s fast-paced startup world, deal-making has become increasingly complex. Anna is well-equipped to navigate these challenges, having honed her skills through years of experience in entrepreneurship and venture capital.

As she embarks on this new chapter with Flybridge, Anna is poised to bring a fresh perspective and expertise to the firm. Her commitment to community-driven startups aligns perfectly with Flybridge’s mission, ensuring that her contributions will have a lasting impact.
